Again, I return to Robert Green’s book, The 48 Laws of Power. Green teaches us about Law #18. In excerpts, he says, “Do not build fortresses to protect yourself. Isolation is dangerous. The world is dangerous and enemies are everywhere. Everyone has to protect themselves. A fortresses seems the safest but isolation exposes you to more dangers than if protects you from. It cuts you off from valuable information. It makes you conspicuous and an easy target.”
He continues, “Better to circulate among people. Find allies. Mingle. You are shielded from your enemies by the crowd designed to defend you. Fortresses actually cut you off from help and cut into your flexibility. They may appear impregnable. But once you retire to one, everyone knows where you are. And a siege does not have to succeed to turn your fortress into a prison.” Before I continue, it is imperative that I say, “To everything there is a season.” And that includes a time to isolate. But for me, it is extra important to not isolate too much.
Aries is known as the pioneer who ventures out on their own. That independent spirit could also be described as the lone wolf. And as long as there isn’t a pack of wolves hunting the lone wolf, isolation may very well be in season. In the video below, Maria DeSimone describes her aha moment when she realized her Chiron wound is a lone wolf wound. I have borrowed her analogy which she says was inspired by listening to another astrologist on YouTube.
I am not going to list all of the examples in which Chiron in Aries is the lone wolf wound. Instead, I’m going to talk specifically about how it applies to me. After all, this is an entry into a research diary in which the subject of research is me. And the purpose of the research is to learn myself better than my enemies already have. And that reminds me of something one of the goons said to me one night after I arrived for my shift at work.
I believe he spoke accidentally from his heart rather than from his script, as he asked, “You’re just an independent soul aren’t you?” His words followed my expression of excitement after finding out that due to the low census, I would be the only nurse at that station for the night. This meant there would be no theatrics with which to contend from any one of a long list of rotating nurses who usually accompanied me at the nurse’s station.
Yes, the goon was right in his observation. I am a lone wolf whose soul was made independent not only by wounding, but also by preference, because that solo Aries energy feels so familiar. See, it isn’t just my natal Chiron that is in Aries. My Venus and South Node are also there. An astrologist on TikTok, whose handle is @DJMorris, says we are our South Node not our sun sign. This is because our South Node is who we are naturally. It is who we have been for the longest most recently. And that means it feels the most familiar and thus, the most authentic.
I hear many astrologers say the energy of your South Node is that of your past life. And then they usually add a disclaimer which says if you don’t believe in reincarnation, think of it instead as the energy of your younger self. For me, this loner energy is a continuation of my “past” life. I’m not going to get into linear vs. circular time here. I’m just going to keep saying past life for the purpose of simplicity.
