The Human Aura And The Significance of Color, is a book that was produced by Occult Publishing Co. in 1909. It is comprised of three lectures given by Theosophical speaker and author, W. J. Colville. He says, “Joseph’s coat of many colors, mentioned in Genesis, is a very ancient allusion to the aura of a seer or prophet.” Colville lectures on each specific color. The PDF version of his book, which is pictured below, is available for free online at the link above.
My Shirt of Many Colors
I first posted the below pictures in the entry, The Dark Night of The Soul. In the picture on the right, I call the top which I’m wearing, my shirt of many colors. The rainbow beams in both photos match the shirt exactly. Zoom in to look at them more closely.
Within the coat of many colors is violet.
This is “the seventh color in the rainbow spectrum,” according to Colville. He says it “denotes the highest of all earthly attainments (and) is indicative of what is commonly termed a dreamy, visionary character.” Although the aura colors correlate to the chakras, I couldn’t help but notice that in my case, they also tie in to my astrological natal chart.
Let me give you an example. Like the color violet, Neptune, in spite of its illusionary reputation, is known for its dreaminess. And in my natal chart, it resides in Sagittarius, a sign known for its visionary quality, just like the color violet. Also, Neptune is associated with Pisces and the twelfth house, both of which, are associated with the purple family.
Colville advises, ”We must not forget that seers and dreamers can be thoroughly robust, and though usually somewhat more finely and delicately organized than the bulk of their contemporaries, they can enjoy perfect health and exhibit any amount of physical as well as mental endurance which the majority of their more grossly constituted neighbors cannot possibly endure without a speedy breakdown.”

He continues, “The more widely different one’s aura is from that of one’s neighbor, the more one is able to move about among the sick and distressed, radiating health, giving out virtue, but free from liability to unpleasant infection or contagion.” He continues, “Violet light destroys many varieties of destructive parasites, and those remarkable ‘healers’ whose very presence confers blessing upon the affiicted are usually possessed of an aura in which violet is a largely predominating color.”
Craig Hamilton-Parker says that violet “is associated with the 3rd eye” and is indicative of “higher spiritual aspirations.”
He also says that when he sees pale violet in an aura, he knows the person is a vegetarian. I certainly don’t think the only way a person can have this color in their aura is to become a vegetarian or vegan. But in my case, Craig‘s conclusion was a match. This seems like a good opportunity to justify taking a rabbit trail so I can explain why I am always vegetarian and nearly always vegan. But first let me say, I fully remember that to everything there is season. In no way, do I think anyone else needs to eat the way I do.
